    Emerald Charter Schools manages Knox County's first public charter school, Emerald AcademyEmerald Academy was approved by the Knox County Board of Education by a 7-1 vote on June 4, 2014, and opened on July 27, 2015. When Emerald Academy is at full capacity, K-8, in the 2019-2020 school year, about 540 scholars are expected to attend.
